Summer Concert in Drøbak

To mark the church’s anniversary, Christian Eggen has composed a piece for the two mighty church bells, which were cast in Copenhagen by Michael Carl Troschell on commission from Marta Zachariasdatter and Niels Carlsen.

The piece is based on audio recordings made in the church tower, allowing us to get to know the bells, so to speak, from the inside. The recordings have been edited into a composition that is performed in the church in collaboration with musicians. For this occasion, two new percussion instruments have been crafted, featuring finely tuned metal rods that accurately reproduce the bells’ tonal range and bring their rich harmonies into the church, interplaying with the sound of the bells.
