About the Event
"Special Events" is a concert with the duo Stavseng/Karlsson, and is made up of pieces that stretch back to the turn of the last century and to our time with a freshly commissioned work.
Program:
Jenny Hetne: Så talrika som bara två kan vara (2022)
Claude Debussy: Sonata for Cello and Piano (1915)
Swedish summer music: A collection of pieces by i.a. Peterson-Berger, Stenhammar, Rangström and others
Earl Brown: Special Events (1999)
Jenny Hettne is one of the most interesting young composers in Sweden, and writes beautiful, transparent music. "Så talrika som bara två kan vara" is composed for Torun Stavseng and Kenneth Karlsson in 2022.
Towards the end of his life, Claude Debussy (1862–1918) began composing six sonatas for various smaller ensembles, with only three of them completed before his death. The sonata for cello and piano is the most played of these.
Sweden has many bright, beautiful pieces that lead the mind to midsummer and bright summer nights. The duo has collected some of the finest.
The last thing the American composer Earl Browns (1926-2002) wrote was "Special Events". The work has remained as a classic masterpiece from the 90s. In the score, there are many different options, so one musician cannot always know what the other is up to. Playful, elegant and virtuoso!
