Harpreet Bansal & Cikada String Quartet

This April, the album States of Mind was released on Lawo Classics – the result of a collaboration between the Harpreet Bansal Trio and the Cikada String Quartet that has been ongoing for more than six years. Critics have praised the music as both ambitious and beautiful. The fusion of Bansal’s deeply personal interpretation of Indian raga with composed passages for the quartet truly captivates the listener.

The award-winning violinist and composer has distinguished herself as one of the most unique and exciting Norwegian musicians in recent years. In the Harpreet Bansal Trio, she is joined by the outstanding musicians Andreas Bratlie on tablas and Vojtech Prochazka on piano and harmonium. Together for over 15 years, they have explored the creative intersections between raga, jazz, pop, improvisation and composition – crafting music that is dynamic, colourful, catchy and contemplative.

This may be her most exciting collaboration to date. The Cikada String Quartet is internationally acclaimed for introducing new elements into contemporary music.
